  • How Often Should You Wash Your Jeans?  Have you heard of freezing them instead? Yeah, it’s really a thing… . I know lots of people don’t wash their denim very often, so that their jeans will maintain their shape and integrity.  Personally, I’m a germaphobe and if I’ve been out in public, those babies are goin’ in the machine. 😷 . Of course, I hang them up to dry which I recommend 100% – never put them in the dryer.  IMO, this is the best way to extend the life of your clothes. . I also have the LG machine with the “steam clean” feature.  I’ll use this if my jeans are only slightly worn to freshen them up. . Have you heard of the practice of freezing your jeans in a Ziploc bag to kill bacteria and remove odors in-between wears?  Actually this idea has been around for quite a while, in case you haven’t heard of it.  I hadn’t until recently. . Yeah, in 2011 Levi Strauss urged people to do just that.  And you’d think freezing temps would kill any icky germs lingering in your jeans.  But, surprisingly, scientists say that many bacteria will actually survive these low temps! 😱 . So, how often should you wash your jeans? Personally, I treat my jeans like any other item in my wardrobe.  I wash them after nearly every wear – because that’s how I roll.  But really, it depends on where I’ve been while wearing them, and also on how cool the weather is. . If I’ve been sweating, they’re goin’ in.  If I’ve been on an airplane, don’t think twice about it – they’re goin’ in.  If I’ve been mostly in the car and just running errands, I’ll probably put them back in the closet after a quick steam in the washer. I think this really comes down to personal preference.  If you’re like me, I fluctuate between sizes and have several styles of jeans in my closet.  Therefore, none of them really get heavy wear, so washing them has never been a problem. .
