How about some easy ideas for fresh decorating inspiration? Fresh Boxwood, preserved and faux Boxwood topiaries and indoor wreaths are simple, classic, and neutral. And, Boxwood will coordinate seamlessly with all of your existing décor and look beautiful in your home.
I really love decorating with preserved or faux Boxwood. The reason is, it’s the perfect way to add a touch of greenery to your space, without the hassle of maintaining a live plant!
Here I will show you how I’ve decorated with faux Boxwood topiaries and preserved and faux Boxwood indoor wreaths throughout my house.
Faux Boxwood Topiary
I fell in love with this pair of faux Boxwood topiary balls as soon as I saw them.
Our powder room is decorated with dark grey metallic painted walls, a black and white floor, and mixed metallic accents of chrome and Champagne gold. I placed one of the topiaries on the small accent table.
The black planter and black and white striped bow coordinate perfectly with the décor in the powder room. And, I love the contrast of the vibrant green Boxwood ball with the subdued colors in the room!
The leaves on this topiary have a slight luster, which makes them look realistic. These are really pretty, and are a very good quality faux Boxwood. I’m so glad I found them!
I have the other half of the set put away for another use. (Next to the planter is L’Occitane Welcome Home Perfume, which is absolutely divine!)
Preserved Boxwood Topiary
When decorating our guest bathroom, I added this preserved Boxwood topiary.
It’s elegant yet understated. And, it adds subtle color and texture to the room. In addition, it looks right at home on the counter. I really love the rich matte look of preserved Boxwood leaves!
About Preserved Boxwood
Preserved Boxwood is actually a real Boxwood plant that has been – you guessed it – preserved, to maintain the fresh appearance. These are only suitable for indoor use.
To care for preserved Boxwood, mist with water every couple of months to maintain the freshness of the leaves.
Live Boxwood Wreaths
On Thanksgiving eve, I place the wreath on our door, and leave it up through the Christmas holidays. A live wreath is perfect for the holiday season, rather than an artificial one. The reason is, it dries beautifully. And, it’s a nice change from a traditional Christmas wreath.
But, live wreaths can get expensive! Fortunately, there are many good quality faux Boxwood wreaths and preserved Boxwood indoor wreaths available for year-round decorating.
Faux Boxwood Wreaths & Preserved Boxwood Indoor Wreaths
Besides the classic live holiday door decoration, I am a fan of decorating with preserved indoor wreaths or faux Boxwood wreaths year-round. They are so simple, yet so lovely, don’t you think?
I especially like the ones that look modern and lush, with tightly manicured round or square shapes like this one. This design makes them an excellent addition to a variety of decorating styles. These really do work perfectly for traditional, minimalist, transitional, or shabby-chic aesthetics.
And, it’s so easy to decorate with them for any season or occasion. Just attach a neutral burlap ribbon, or really any ribbon you like, to hang your wreath.
Decorating with Boxwood Wreaths
Remember, preserved Boxwood is only suitable for indoor use. Some faux Boxwood wreaths can be used outdoors on a porch or other covered area. These are usually the plastic ones, that have been treated with a special UV protective coating. Silk artificial Boxwood wreaths are not suited for outdoor use.
Here are a few more ideas for decorating with a Boxwood wreath year-round:
Hang your Boxwood wreath
- On your front door
- On the porch or patio
- Above the mantle
Place on the wall as an accent in your living room, dining room, or kitchen. Welcome guests into your home by placing on a wall in your foyer, either alone or over a mirror.
During the holidays
Use as a “shabby chic”, minimalist or modern Christmas wreath for your door or as a decoration for your outdoor windows.
Boxwood wreaths are the perfect simple and elegant decoration for a wedding, shower, or other special occasion.
Beautify Your Home with Faux Boxwood
As you can see, preserved or faux Boxwood is an easy way to add greenery to any room in your home, year-round.
And, it’s so easy to find gorgeous preserved and faux Boxwood topiaries and indoor wreaths. Furthermore, while some are more expensive than others, most are pretty affordable.
